Cookies and consent

PlotRecall sets no cookies of its own. This page lists the storage that does exist, category by category, and says plainly which categories are actually in use.

What is stored on your device

  • plotrecall.studio.operator — Holds the selected Studio operator for the internal backoffice simulation. Never set on a public page. (sessionStorage, strictly necessary).
  • plotrecall.consent — Records your own consent decision so you are not asked again. Written only after you choose, and only when a consent-requiring category is configured. (localStorage, strictly necessary).
  • _ga / _ga_* — Google Analytics measurement, set only when a measurement id is configured and analytics consent is granted. Absent otherwise. (cookie, analytics).
  • (in-page state) — Spoiler boundary and recall depth live in React state for the duration of the page view and are not persisted. (memory, strictly necessary).

The categories

Essential storage keeps the site working — your spoiler position while you read, and your consent choice itself. It cannot be switched off, because switching it off would break the thing you asked for.

Analytics is not configured. No analytics library, tag or measurement script is loaded, so there is nothing to consent to.

Advertising is switched off. No advertising script exists on the page, so PlotRecall does not ask you for advertising consent and does not pretend that an ad choice is being used.

Marketing email is a separate matter entirely. It is asked for once, on its own, and never bundled with cookies or with the Terms.

How consent is asked for

No optional technology is running, so no consent banner is shown. A banner for something that does not load would be theatre. If an optional provider is ever switched on, the choice appears first, with nothing pre-ticked.

There is exactly one consent system on this site. Agreeing to the Terms of use is not consent to analytics or advertising, and never will be.
